Good Hotel Guide Review
In an unexceptional southern suburb of Boulogne-sur-Mer, this smart and “hospitable” restaurant-with-rooms stands by the little River Liane. Owner/chef Dominique Martin presides: Gault Millau awards 14 points for his traditional seasonal cooking, eg, cuisse de canard rôti, choux au lard paysans; gigot d”agneau en croûte de pomme de terre. His wife, Sybille, is front-of-house. Smart dress is expected of diners. The dining room has recently been renovated in Olde English style, and visitors wrote of “charming owners and staff, excellent food at eminently reasonable prices”, although some found the restaurant expensive in comparison to the rooms. The bedrooms, with river or garden view, are quiet. The bar and dining room are “inviting”; the garden at the back, sheltered by neat hedges, has tables, chairs and parasols. The Channel Tunnel is 20 minutes” drive away.
