Good Hotel Guide Review
“Idyllically” set on the little River Canche, below the citadel, this restaurant-with-rooms is run by Alexandre Gauthier, who took over from his father Roland in 2003. The food draws visitors from afar: Alexandre’s molecular gastronomy is highly inventive and original and has a Michelin star. The dining rooms have been adapted for a more modern cuisine; instead of 1920s frog murals and ornaments, it’s now glass, wood and rusted metal; there are also ‘huts’ in the garden sleeping two people. Of the bedrooms (in an annexe): the main one is beamed; another has striped wallpaper; two smaller cottage rooms open on to a courtyard. “Above-average pine-clad bathroom; good lighting.” “Wonderful breakfast: perfect coffee, fruit salad, freshly squeezed juice, home-made preserves.”
