Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Well placed for visits to central Paris’, this 18th-century building is where Puccini set La Bohème. ‘Quietly elegant’, it is in a small street opposite the Louvre, by the lovely old church of St-Germain-l’Auxerrois (its bells are silent at night). It is now a small hotel, owned by Roger Thiery, where ‘modern comfort accompanies ancient grace’. Recent comments: ‘Courteous reception’; ‘We were made very welcome’. ‘Everything on a small scale; our small bedroom, with small bathroom, was reached by a tiny lift. It had flowery fabrics, flower prints, a comfortable bed with cotton sheets.’ No public rooms apart from Reception (‘very pretty: red walls, old beams, nice old chairs, mirrors’); the ‘good breakfast’ is brought on a tray with dainty china to the bedroom. The manager, Sophie Aulnette, is ‘particularly helpful’. If you need a parking place you should mention this when booking.
