Good Hotel Guide Review
Near the superb ruins of a Gothic abbey, in a lovely valley south-east of Coutances, this grey stone restaurant-with-rooms (Logis de France) is always admired: “Welcoming, efficient, very comfortable”; “Amazing value”. Though modestly priced, it is quite smart, and prettily decorated. The flower arrangements “are lovely”, and “attention to detail is apparent”. Michelin awards it a Bib Gourmand, saying this year: “The chef in fact learned the trade here, before moving on to other fine establishments; now he serves flavoursome traditional cuisine, free of unnecessary frills. A litany of gourmet pleasures in store,” and Guide readers agree: “Soft colours, pretty curtains; food was superb.” “Continental breakfast the nicest we had in France: delicious jams.” “We felt like house guests rather than hotel guests.” Most bedrooms have shower rather than bath. The parterre, with lawn and flowers, is admired, and “we loved walking in the country lanes”.
