Good Hotel Guide Review
“We thought it excellent value, and a very French experience, so close to the UK,” says a report. Near Bayeux and Arromanches, this Logis de France is a “large and sprawling” fortified medieval farm, still working, run by its owners, Isabelle & Koen Sileghem, as a hotel/restaurant. Old farm implements are dotted around. Converted barns have large public rooms below and bedrooms above, some reached by twisting stairways. The rooms are said to vary from “tiny” to “palatial”: best ones are in the Ferme de Mathan. “Our compact room had a wonderful old carved wardrobe, colourful matching fabrics, a tiled bathroom.” Beside the huge flagged courtyard is the main dining room, rustic and timber-ceilinged. In the large restaurant, service is prompt, and chef Stéphane Boisramay serves “tasty and well-cooked” dishes, “of the terroir”, eg, soupe de poisson; suprême de volaille au parfums de Normandie. The breakfast room, with terrace, gets the morning sun: breakfast is “a great buffet”. Groups are catered for (they have a separate dining room).
