Good Hotel Guide Review
This Logis de France (also Relais du Silence) is a short walk from the famous tapestry (really an embroidery). A much-modernised old coaching inn, it was enjoyed again by nominators. ‘Staff were friendly, efficient. The food was excellent and good value.’ Bedrooms lead off rambling corridors (‘well lit, done in pleasant green fabric’). With their colourful window boxes, they look on to a paved courtyard (with flowers and palm trees) where cars are parked (‘the transition is amazing, from the busy street to this quiet oasis’). Some rooms are up many stairs (no lift, but help is given); most are spacious. ‘Ours was cheerful. From the bed we could see the floodlit cathedral.’ Smaller rooms are ‘adequate’. Sound insulation may not always be perfect. The restaurant has a lovely terrace and offers regional dishes, for eg. veal medallion with a creamy cider sauce; fillet of beef and potato risotto with parmesan crumbs. ‘The buffet breakfast had wide choice.’
