This “immaculate, tiny village, like a film set” stands high on an escarpment above the valleys of the Lot and the Truyère, north of Rodez. It has a 360-degree panorama, and its pretty cottages, most now holiday homes, have retained their roofs tiled with authentic grey lauzes. Here, this rural inn (Logis de France), fronted by a pergola, is run “with efficiency” by its owner, Elizabeth Albespy, say visitors. “Four rooms are in the original part of the building, up creaky stairs, the rest are newer, and most have a balcony, high above the chestnut trees. There are amazing views from the dining room, and several areas for outside eating. Madame is always to be seen in her chef”s apron, often at work in her gleaming kitchen.” She promises “good family cooking based on traditional recipes”. “Her menus are interesting, there is one for vegetarians; another, du terroir, features the pig in most courses (oreille du cochon avec pounti; mignon de porc; truite farcie aux lardoons, etc)”. Breakfast is “traditional and copious”. “The area is unspoilt, there is plenty of good walking from the door, and chairs and loungers for the less active can be found in the large, wild grounds.” A picnic lunch can be provided for hikers.
