Good Hotel Guide Review
In a beautiful setting on the Sélune (one of the last salmon rivers in France), where the N176 crosses an old bridge, this unsophisticated Logis de France is run by Patrice and Sandra Girres; Patrice is the son of the previous owners, Jean-Pierre and Josette Girres, and is the third generation to run the hotel. The blue-and-white restaurant, which faces the small garden and river, is locally popular, and young chef Sebastian Godefroy’s specialties include, for eg, a cappucchino of mussels with Philippine curry, and Mont St-Michel Salt Meadow lamb with red onion confit and truffle potato. Half-board is available. There is a terrace for drinks and summer meals. Some bedrooms are spacious; some have garden views; three are in a pavilion. ‘Our room was tiny, but the bathroom was a good size, and we heard no noise from the road.’ ‘Our bath was four feet long; we washed using the shower attachment.’ ‘Good value for money.’ Breakfast is ‘fairly basic’. Opposite is the small, flowery municipal garden.
