Good Hotel Guide Review
With ‘brilliant service’ and ‘fantastic rooms’, David Stein’s small luxury hotel, a converted 17th-century palace, is ‘strongly recommended’ by visitors. Bjorn Wild is has been the manager since 2009. Painted bright pink, it stands on a small hill amid pine and fruit trees in the Tramuntana mountains in south-west Mallorca. Palm trees, rose bushes and hedges provide privacy for sunbathers beside the 100-foot swimming pool: it has views to olive groves below. There are sculptures in the grounds, and the building is filled with original paintings by Warhol, Chagall and Hockney, and works by Spanish classical masters. Fine dining Mediterranean cuisine is served in Oleum, the restaurant in an old olive press (meals can also be taken on a terrace or in the courtyard); the Gazebo grill and bar by the pool is open in summer. ‘Good buffet breakfast.’ ‘Our sumptuous suite had an enormous sitting room and a 14 foot-high ceiling.’
