Good Hotel Guide Review
On the outskirts of this famous ‘and fascinating’ tiny hill village, on a hillside with ‘breathtaking views’ across olive terraces to the sea, this holiday hotel has long been popular with Guide readers. ‘Difficult to fault,’ was one visitor comment. It stands in a ‘gorgeous garden’ with orange, lemon and ancient olive trees, a bamboo grove, and a pond. A visitor in 2015 found “service and friendliness of the highest order” and the set menu well priced. Returning visitors wrote: ‘Even better than we remembered. Staff genuinely friendly; we recognised many from our previous visits.’ Bedrooms vary; some feel they are a little outdated but offer good value: ‘Our lovely room with balcony could have done with more storage space.’ ‘Our annexe room was large.’ ‘Our room was small but adequate, spotlessly clean.’ Rooms near the road get traffic noise. ‘Breakfast, dinner and lunch by the large swimming pool were all delicious.’ There are two restaurants, Ca’n Quet and Buganvilia, and a tapas bar. A minibus takes guests to a private beach for sea bathing – there’s no sand, but terraces with sunbeds leading down to the sea, and there’s a lovely bar. Many regulars return year after year.
