Good Hotel Guide Review
In a village on the north-east tip of Mallorca, this much-admired restaurant-with-rooms is run by the ‘delightful’ French owner/chef, Gérard Tétard, with his wife Laurence and their son William. The creeper-clad mansion, with ‘slightly old-fashioned air, and solid rustic charm’, is on a quiet side street. ‘Superb’ meals are served in the shady courtyard with potted plants, or in the beamed dining room. Madame discusses the (no-choice) set menu at breakfast ‘and makes amendments as necessary’. Or you could choose from the ‘particularly good’ carte. Local fresh fish is used; there is a wide range of Spanish wines. ‘An excellent breakfast, brought to the table.’ ‘Comfortable, well-maintained’ bedrooms have rustic furnishings, flowers, good bathroom. Suites have a small lounge. There is a rooftop terrace with loungers. Cala Ratjada, built around a series of coves, is ‘a great contrast to the bucket-and-spade lifestyle of the busier resorts’; ‘lovely harbour, nice beaches, good shops’. Activities on offer include walking, riding, diving, sailing, tennis and golf.
