Good Hotel Guide Review
This quirky boutique hotel is set in a restored 19th-century building in ‘corrada’ style – that is, with rooms on three levels set around a pretty central courtyard. It’s in the La Latina district, a very vibrant part of Old Madrid with plenty of tapas bars and restaurants; indeed, the hotel’s own restaurant (serving modern Spanish fare) is well regarded. It’s a great location, 100m from Plaza Mayor and a 5-minute walk from San Miguel Market. Rooms tend to be on the small side, with off-beat decor (such as round mirrors and multi-striped floors or monochromatic colour schemes), and those on the ground floor have a tendency to be noisy – those on the upper floors with balconies are best, and closing the windows and doors dissipates street noise. Those looking into the courtyard can be gloomy. Beds have memory foam mattresses. The hotel doesn’t only cater for a young crowd – the staff are welcoming and very friendly.
