Good Hotel Guide Review
Once the home of a 19th-century wine merchant, this vine-covered building is now a ‘charming small hotel’, says a visitor. ‘The friendly staff were very helpful.’ The owners since April 2014, Hélène and François Thévard, have been gradually renovating the property. An earlier visitor wrote of ‘a very comfortable room and good food’. In the ‘delightful garden’, drinks are served under white parasols in summer, and a ‘lovely’ swimming pool, with loungers, is set amid chestnut trees. All is quiet, apart from church bells and birdsong. There’s a courtyard for summer meals, and a pretty dining room. A good base for visiting the Loire châteaux, and events such as the ‘soupe des chiens’ at Cheverny; the old wine town of Beaugency is nearby.
