Good Hotel Guide Review
Between Orléans and Le Mans, outside a village 18 km north of Vendôme, is this handsome, ivy-covered 19th-century former hunting lodge of Duc de La Rochefoucauld, now owned by Maryse and Guy Redon. It’s reached down a side road past a lake, in beautiful valley. ‘Suitable for a stop-over, good value, good atmosphere, lovely setting,’ said a visitor. The bedrooms are spacious and pleasant, though the decor was thought ‘a bit passé’. Amazing views compensate for that. There’s an elegant dining room and a wide dining terrace; chef Arnaud Villedieu produces much-admired ‘cuisine classique’. There are two hectares of wooded grounds surrounding the property.
