Good Hotel Guide Review
In a remote setting on an ‘amazing cliffside’, this resort complex includes a hotel and a ‘fishermen’s village’ (apartments), in a large botanical park on the coast between Naples and Rome. Its lush grounds slope down to a swimming pool carved into rock (here meals can be served), and then the sea (rocks, no sandy beach), facing the Pontine islands. ‘Charming, informal, with obliging staff’, it is ‘good for children and their grandparents’, according to one recent guest. The Battaglia family owners aim to ‘create the atmosphere of a private villa’. Every room has a sea view. Some suites have a spa bath. ‘Facilities throughout are immaculate.’ The restaurant has spectacular views from almost every table. Most visitors find the food ‘delicious: the seafood was fresh and well prepared’, but one guest thought the dinners, in a ‘not-too-appealing’ dining room, were ‘disappointing’, but lunch, alfresco, was ‘brilliant’. Breakfast is served on a flowery patio. There is a good wine list. Popular for weddings, meetings, gala dinners, etc.
