Good Hotel Guide Review
On the beach in an unspoilt small Costa Brava resort, the Farrarons family have run their hotel since 1935. ‘It is pleasant for a few days at the seaside,’ say recent visitors. Bedrooms vary in size from medium to small (the best, sea-facing ones ‘can be hard to get’). The rooms are generally ‘light, well furnished, with lovely wood floors, good beds and linen’ (one reader was reminded by her ‘beautifully appointed room’ of a luxury yacht). Less liked was a ‘somewhat cramped room on the first floor, with a window opening on to a tiny internal courtyard with daylight from a skylight’. Street noise can be a problem in some rooms, but ‘the owners and their dedicated staff make up for this’. Meals are served in the ‘immaculate’ dining room (white tablecloths on ranks of tables) facing the sea, or under huge parasols on the attractive dining terrace. There is always fresh fish on the daily-changing table d’hôte dinner menu. ‘The beach can be crowded in high season, but the village was quiet in June; a lovely, unspoilt spot on a beautiful coastline.’
