In Champagne country, near Épernay, this luxurious hotel, surrounded by a lovely landscaped garden and vineyards, is “highly recommended” by guests; it was recently refurbished. it is built on the site of an old brickworks in neo-rustic style (“with old wooden fairground horses, the odd antique”). It stands at the apex of two roads, one a busy route nationale. In the beamed restaurant, with large fireplace and elegant table settings, the chef, x has a Michelin star. Glass-plated corridors give a sense of light and space. “Our spacious, quiet room had a smart seating area, a large bathroom with generous toiletries. Breakfast was a copious buffet.” “The welcome is charming and sophisticated.” You can play volleyball in the garden, and there is a large indoor swimming pool and a spa with a hammam, sauna and jacuzzi.
