In the painter Jean-Baptiste Greuze”s birthplace, and overlooked by the bell tower of the Romanesque abbey of St-Philibert, is this Renaissance “Bressane” building restored as an elegant, luxurious hotel. A visitor reported, “An excellent breakfast, and courteous service.” There are 21 comfortable bedrooms in different styles (Louis XVI, Directoire, etc); some face the abbey, others the main road and the railway. The apartments have living rooms. Breakfast is taken on the terrace in good weather, and adjacent is Jean Ducloux”s Restaurant Greuze (Relais & Châteaux, Michelin star, 15 Gault Millau points). Plenty of parking, and staff are often on hand to help with luggage.
