Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Brilliantly located’, on a side street between the Grand’Place and the central station, this B&B hotel was once the home of the Spanish ambassador. It was mostly liked by visitors: ‘Enjoyable as ever, an oasis of good taste and efficiency.’ ‘A place of character, much nicer than the business hotels nearby.’ The bedrooms, each named after a Belgian artist, are all different, some period (one has a trompe l’œil mural), some modern. The suites have a spacious lounge with 32-inch plasma TV screen; some have a kitchenette, some a sun terrace; but some of their bedrooms are small. Some rooms face the pretty courtyard, where visitors sit on summer nights; front rooms get street noise. Some criticisms: ‘There was little service.’ ‘Housekeeping was lax.’ Difficult to find by car.
