The Jouanny family’s handsome, white 19th-century mansion (Relais de Silence) stands in a large flowery garden, ‘a beautiful location’, where meals are served under parasols and cypress trees. The hotel is high above the beach, on the ‘granite rose coast’, arguably the loveliest stretch of north Brittany, where large pink rocks lie offshore. ‘Well organised for small children’, it has ‘a family feel’. Service is ‘impeccable’, ‘very friendly’. The restaurant has a panoramic terrace. Breakfast, a generous buffet, comes with a bulletin giving times of tides, local markets and events. Some bedrooms have a balcony with views of the coast. The spa offers beauty treatments. An indoor swimming pool overlooks the sea, and steps lead down to the big public beach.
