Good Hotel Guide Review
Run ‘with panache’ by its owners, Anne and Jean Milliau Le Coz, this upmarket beach hotel (Relais & Châteaux) is described by correspondents as ‘delightful’. It stands beside a huge, secluded sandy beach. ‘The food was sublime,’ was another comment (Yoann Noel specialises in lobster and fish). ‘Our four-year-old daughter was made as welcome as we were, even at the evening meal. We watched glorious sunsets as we ate.’ The extensive wine list is reasonably priced. The spectacular tiered conservatory dining room is the main restaurant; the older dining room, is for breakfast and private groups. ‘Guests were dressed informally’, and ‘the young staff, in black and white uniforms with ties, are friendly’. Public rooms are ‘quite smart’; the spacious bar has sea views from ‘comfy sofas’. ‘Our nice-size bedroom had a great view of the beach.’ Breakfast is a buffet (‘good but not great’). The gardens are ‘immaculate’, and the swimming pool is useful at low tide when the sea goes far out (the rapid incoming tide makes caution necessary).
