Good Hotel Guide Review
Built in the 1970s, this large white villa, with its sloping red-tiled roof, looks more Basque than Breton. Previously known as Le Domaine d’Orvault, but still managed by Nathalie and Sylvain Lejeune, it is in a north-west suburb of Nantes: ‘So much nicer than going to the city centre,’ says a visitor. ‘A charming hotel. Excellent cuisine served on a lovely terrace under lime trees. Room clean and quiet. Friendly staff.’ In the restaurant facing the wooded grounds, the chef, Mounir Jouad, serves seasonal and local dishes. The bedroom were renovated in 2012 and each is different; most are spacious, and there’s an onsite spa and swimming pool. The atmosphere is ‘relaxed’, says a recent report. The hotel offers discounted family rooms and children under 12 have free breakfast. Cooking lessons are available outside the high season (July and August).
