Good Hotel Guide Review
Liked for its welcome, ‘quietly efficient staff’ and ‘excellent value for money’, this chalet-style hotel is in a ‘very beautiful’ skiing and summer resort in the South Tyrol nature reserve, at the foot of the Dolomites. Owned by sisters Eva and Waltraud Scherlin, it stands by a stream, on a sunny meadow surrounded by an ancient forest. Recent visitors liked ‘the meals, the pool and the scenery’; others wrote: ‘Utterly professional; painstaking attention to detail.’ ‘It is clearly much loved by generations of guests. The happy atmosphere makes everyone friendly.’ Children of all ages are well looked after, with extensive entertainment programmes. The large swimming pool is separated by a floor-to-ceiling glass wall from the ‘huge and lovely’ garden. There are log fires, a sauna, sun loungers on the grass. ‘Food is copious.’ Rates include a light lunch and afternoon tea (‘the cakes were a disaster for the waistline’). The breakfast buffet has a huge choice. Bedrooms are large, with balcony, and in the big underground garage, a car space is allotted to each room. In summer there is ‘wonderful walking in the plateau above the hotel. They provided two buses in the morning to take guests to the cable car.’
