Good Hotel Guide Review
‘It remains a gem, loved by all who visit it,’ said the original nominators of the Schrott family’s chalet-style hotel, in the ‘very beautiful’ Passeier / Passiria valley north of Meran / Merano, after returning for the fourteenth consecutive year in 2009. They added that’ ‘the family constantly seeks to improve all aspects of the holiday here, though improvement on excellence is difficult. Other guests have said: ‘We have never experienced a warmer welcome’. The food is delicious and well presented. Meals on the terrace, with magnificent views, are an experience. The pool and garden are well maintained. The half-board dinner (at about 6.30 pm) is at least five courses (no choice apart from main course). ‘Dessert buffet a feast for eyes and palate.’ Bedrooms are well appointed. ‘Ours, large and comfortable, had stunning views; duvet amusingly arranged like a sculpture.’ ‘Large corner shower with lovely tiles.’ Balconies have loungers. The indoor swimming pool and restaurant have panoramic views. ‘The buffet breakfast is wide ranging.’ In summer there are Grillabende in the garden. Herr Schrott leads a weekly walk including lunch at a mountain Gasthof. Wine tastings are held of wines from the Sud Tirol area.
