Good Hotel Guide Review
Ackselhaus & Blue Home is set on a residential street in the trendy district of Prenzlauer Berg and comprises of two distinct hotels in one 19th century building. One is blue and the other ochre in colour. Ackselhaus offers large rooms and mini-apartments with kitchenettes (some with extra bedrooms) and the more expensive Blue Home offers a mix of rooms, studios and apartments, some with kitchenettes and/or fireplaces, four-poster beds and private roof terraces. They are uniquely themed, from exotic destinations (such as ‘Afrika’ and ‘China’) to famous figures (‘Picasso’) and marine themes (‘Beach House’), and all the furnishings and decor are associated with the specific theme, down to the smallest details. Each hotel has a courtyard garden with an honesty bar, and Blue Home has an orangery. Breakfast is served every morning at the next door cafe, ‘Club del Mar’, which has pavement seating. There’s one reception desk, in Ackselhaus, and service tends to be hands-off.
