Good Hotel Guide Review
In a “delightful position” on the edge of a tiny, historical village in the valley of the Aspre near Salers in the Cantal, this simple auberge is efficiently run by its owners, Brigitte and Christophe Landau, say nominators. “He is the talented chef [Michelin Bib Gourmand], she is the friendly, always smiling patronne.” “The converted farmhouse has only eight bedrooms: each has a smart bathroom in the roof space above it; each has a pastoral view.” There is a small salon with guidebooks and maps, and the peaceful garden has a good-sized swimming pool. The seasonal menus use local pork and veal; foie gras is home made. “The menus had not much variety: lots of meat dishes, few salads, and the food was hearty. Barbary duck en civet was delicious but rich. Staff are friendly. Service is very good. Excellent value.”
