Good Hotel Guide Review
Built in 1808 by the King of Naples (who was married to Napoleon’s sister) as a summer residence, this townhouse hotel is located in the centre of Positano. It is located on a pedestrian thoroughfare, but an ancient wall and botanical gardens ensure it is quiet and restful. Rooms have exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, antique furniture and terraces or balconies looklng out onto the town, the garden or the sea; some have romantic four-poster beds. Also romantic is the candlelit restaurant, Restaurant Al Palazzo, offering traditional Italian cuisine and using vegetables from the hotel’s own garden. A generous buffet breakfast and light meals and snacks are served in the courtyard area. Between June and September, guests are offered a free trip in the hotel’s boat (subject to the weather).
