Good Hotel Guide Review
A former monastery dating from the 17th century, this luxury boutique hotel has been sympathetically restored by owner Bianca Sharma; features such as vaulted celings and wooden shutters on the windows remain, but rooms are fully-furnished with antiques hand-picked by Bianca herself. Photographs of the hotel as a monastery adorn the walls, and each room is named after a herb that the nuns who lived here would have grown. The overwhelming atmosphere is that of tranquillity, and the four levels of gardens feature hidden seating places and sundecks (some with phones in case you need anything from the staff) as well as a bar and library for those feeling more sociable. The highlight is an infinity pool loverlooking the ocean, and a restaurant serving modern gastronomy for lunch and dinner. The room rate includes breakfast (in your room or on the terrace), a free shuttle to Amalfi until midnight and the use of a gym and sauna. There’s a full-service bar, too.
