Good Hotel Guide Review
Once the summertime day-trippers have left, Capri becomes a different place: it has ‘charm, beauty, many fabulous sights’. A short walk from its centro storico, although up a hill, the de Martino family’s white-painted hotel stands quietly amid orchards and vineyards. It was found ‘absolutely delightful’ by a visitor: ‘Every member of staff was helpful.’ Like most of Capri, it must be approached on foot: the island’s transport service will (for a fee) bring your luggage from the harbour. Though ‘plainly decorated’, the villa’s bedrooms ‘have everything necessary for comfort’, said other guests. Many have a sea view; some have a terrace and some have balconies. ‘Ours overlooked a garden in which grew a remarkable range of fruits and vegetables. We were invited by the friendly management to wander round it and help ourselves to grapes’: guests may also sample the house wine. A good breakfast is served on the terrace. Light lunches and snacks are available, but no evening restaurant; lots nearby.
