Good Hotel Guide Review
With the impressive castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg on the horizon and visible from some bedrooms, this modernised, but traditionally styled Alsatian auberge (Logis de France) is run by owner/chef Jean-Luc Dumoulin and his wife, Francesca. It caters for families and ‘fulfils its function well’, say correspondents. Its wooden facade is bedecked in summer with geraniums. ‘The food is delicious, hearty and plentiful,’ say visitors (eg, suprême de pintade sur écorce de sapin; onglet de veau au citron et gingembre. Others wrote: ‘Our room had a lovely view. We awoke each morning to church bells. The wood panelling is rich and attractive. Service was exceptional.’ ‘A huge and comfy bedroom.’ Rear rooms can be ‘cramped and dark’, but all rooms are quiet. The ‘good breakfast’ is served in a bright room; there is a glass lift, and a large panoramic terrace for summer meals. There’s a spa area with a sauna and a gym, but there’s an extra charge for these. Showpiece wine villages, eg, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, are near.
