Good Hotel Guide Review
“We very much enjoyed our stay,” say visitors to this half-timbered post house in a small town at the end of the Route des Vins west of Strasbourg. Owner/chef Michel Husser and his daughters Clara and Melina run it with a “very helpful” staff. The regional cooking is among the finest in Alsace (one Michelin star for, eg, salade gourmande aux écrevisses; pigeonneau d”Alsace; soupe au chocolat). “Super food.” “The young sommelier helped us choose from the vast wine list.” Meals are taken in a panelled dining room “of immense character” or the “charming courtyard, cascading with flowers”. Comments on the bedrooms vary: “Our room was delightfully furnished.” “My small double had little space to manoeuvre around the bed.” And some rooms hear “constant traffic” (the inn stands back from the busy main road, windows are double glazed). Other comments: “A beautiful hotel.” “A plate of fresh berries and delicious petits fours was in our room.” “Excellent breakfast.” There is a pleasant walk above the hotel to a small chapel among vineyards.
