Good Hotel Guide Review
“Still one of our favourites.” Set among vineyards near this old village, the Arnold family”s hotel (Logis de France) is typically Alsacien, with its yellow-painted half-timbered walls and flower-covered balconies. Its setting, with views as far as the Black Forest, “is superb”. Owned by the family for three generations, it is now run by an Arnold daughter and her husband, M. and Mme Simon. Rooms are traditionally furnished and many have a balcony facing vineyards or woodland. “Ours was impeccable for space, comfort and shower.” Breakfast has home-baked kugelhopf. The restaurant, across the street, is a big operation. Half board includes three courses from the à la carte menu: huge portions of Alsatian food, “all of high quality”. There are four open wines to choose from, at fair prices, and a large wine list; tastings are often held. A contemporary spa offers an indoor pool, a sauna, a hammam and a terrace.
