Good Hotel Guide Review

Behind the solid exterior of an Edwardian park-side villa lies a Scandi-chic boutique hotel and popular drop-in restaurant. 'Someone has invested a lot of money here and with great attention to detail,' writes a reader. Picasso is said to have stayed in 1950, a visit celebrated in top-floor Dove room, with grey-blue palette, a balcony affording views across the treetops towards Derbyshire. It has a freestanding copper bath, monsoon shower, espresso machine, fridge, smart TV, Roberts radio. Other rooms have a modern four-poster, and an egg-shaped bath for two. Ground-floor Nightjar’s Nest, with wet room, can accommodate an extra bed. A reader was impressed with the thoughtful chair in his room with a standard lamp behind it for reading, and ‘complimentary lime and coconut cake, a glass of fizz at 5.30 pm’. Food is served in the restaurant and on the terrace, from breakfast through brunch and afternoon tea, to a dinner of small plates – Jerusalem artichoke, artichoke purée, wild mushroom, truffle oil; charred squid, ink risotto, parmesan crisp. ‘We had an excellent meal and the advice from staff was most helpful.’

Comments about Brocco on the Park

An excellent little hotel. Our room was bright and pristine. Staff are most welcoming. Highly recommended. - Desmond and Jenny Balmer - January 2020
Even baked beans have a bespoke quality at this wonderful hotel. Everything about this smart, sophisticated place impressed. My bedroom was immaculately presented and stylish. The food was superb. - Mike Craddock - August 2018
Despite its roadside location Brocco is perfectly pitched for a short drive to the Peak District, and a stone's throw away from the Botanical Gardens. On a busy Saturday afternoon we were greeted with effortless charm. Our room, the snug lounge and restaurant all have flair and style. The team offers warmth and professionalism. The food was enjoyable- perhaps a hit and miss with deserts - M and T Sachak-Patwa - February 2018
Two very nice visits. My rooms were spacious, with comfortable, good-sized bed and crisp sheets, but could have been softened by some art on the walls. In Chiff Chaff I woke to the delightful sound of birds. The surrounding area is worth a visit. - Robert Sandham - May 2017
