Good Hotel Guide Review
If you’re outward bound for France, this farmhouse B&B, just ten minutes from the port of Dover and Eurotunnel, is perfect for a stop-off – but you might not want to leave. It is a ‘wonderful, restful retreat’ where guests are welcomed by owners Wendy and Neil Burrows with tea or coffee and home-baked cake to enjoy by the log burner or in the garden. Each of the ‘exquisite but functional’ bedrooms has a private entrance, while thoughtful touches include fresh flowers, a coffee machine, biscuits and sherry. Guests also have use of the spa barn with a hot tub, sauna, and sublime views over the ‘absolutely beautiful scenery’ of the rolling Alkham Valley. As well as providing a range-cooked breakfast of local produce, artisan bread and home-made preserves, the hosts can rustle up a supper of soup and crusty rolls. They can also furnish you with a picnic, maps, books and leaflets, for days exploring White Cliff Country or cycling on the Downs. ‘From the rooster calls in the morning to the sheep baas in the evening, one could not ask for a more wonderful location and accommodation.’ (Stephen Glasser, and others)
