Good Hotel Guide Review
A relaxing base in the rugged Western Lake District, Faith and Stephen Newell’s fantastically secluded B&B is sleekly designed, and has many modern comforts: 'fresh milk, home-made biscuits in the room, help-yourself cake in the dining room'. Bursts of vibrant colour complement the high beamed ceilings and timber and flagstone floors in the stone house. Outside, the breathtaking views stretch across Wasdale – home to England’s deepest lake, Wastwater, and Scafell Pike, its highest mountain. An outdoor hot tub soothes aching muscles after a day’s walk. The large lounge has an honesty bar and open fire for cool evenings; each spacious suite has a patio. Breakfast, served in the courtyard on sunny days, 'was pure pleasure'. (Mark Lowe)
