Medieval palaces, castles, churches and squares
Exploring Prague has been compared to walking through an open-air museum, as this former medieval empire has beautifully preserved Baroque, Gothic, Renaissance and Art Nouveau architecture, with palaces, churches, cottages and cafes huddled side by side on cobbled narrow streets. Its compact size makes it ideal for exploring on foot.
Although the city has been firmly on the tourist map since the 1990s, it is constantly evolving, so each visit affords new discoveries.
Prague Castle, the city’s landmark attraction, is undergoing renovations, with new areas gradually being opened up or restored. In the Old Town, passageways that haven’t been open for over 50 years now house trendy hotels and boutiques.
New art galleries and bars serving terrific Czech beers await discovery, too, along with restaurants serving tastier, more modern food.
