Vibrant city with green spaces

Glasgow may be the UK’s third largest city, but still retains plenty of greenery and is close to gorgeous Scottish countryside as befits a city whose original Gaelic name means ‘the dear green place’. Wander through Kelvingrove’s parkland or Queen’s Park, site of the 16th Century battle of Langside, where on a clear day you can see Ben Lomond. Glasgow grew on the banks of the Clyde and the impressive new Riverside Museum tells that story.

The Good Hotel Guide’s hotel selection in Glasgow includes a welcoming B&B which offers Tunnock tea cakes to new guests and a conversion of a railway company’s headquarters. Glasgow itself is full of stunning architecture with countless Victorian structures and the unique masterpieces of one of the city’s most famous sons, designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Visit his House for an Art Lover or take in Holmwood House and Pollock House for interesting days out. Sports, arts and culture are all on offer in Glasgow as is top-notch shopping facilities and diverse coffee houses and restaurants to indulge your taste buds.
