Hotels in Fife

Some refer to 'The kingdom of Fife' as the home of golf, and with good reason - it has more than 40 golf courses from the famous St Andrews to seaside links and more. However, Fife has lots of other wonderful things about it, that keep visitors returning time and again.

Rooms at the Saint

Rooms at the Saint

St Andrews

Refurbished in contemporary style, the popular Saint Bar & Kitchen has four sleek bedrooms above (one is snug). There are chic colours and cosy nooks in the family-friendly restaurant, where Scottish dishes (haggis, neeps and tatties; Cullen skink pie) and tempting home-made desserts feature on the wholesome pub grub menu. Young guests have their own menu, appropriate tables and chairs, and plenty of toys for entertainment. An extensive, enclosed garden has outdoor seating. Free-ranging chooks supply freshly laid eggs.

The ancestral home of Scottish monarchs, Fife has so much history to explore - it really is the stuff of legends. Learn about Dunfermline, a former capital of Scotland, and the 'Lang Toun' of Kirkcaldy, Fife's largest settlement. The dramatic beaches have inspired films such as Chariots of Fire, fishing is a favourite pastime, sites include Forth Road and Rail Bridges, and of course it's home to St Andrews University too.

Wildlife is also a magical part of a trip to this region. Don't miss a hike along the Fife Coastal Path up to Crail, look out for grey seals, basking sharks and dolphins, and visit the islands of Inchcolm and Inchkeith if you have time.

All of this is accompanied by superb hospitality. Warm welcomes are the order of the day at the likes of the luxurious Rufflets, The Peat Inn (with its Michelin Star), and the beachside Ship Inn at Elie - a pub with rooms that has its own cricket team that play on the sand!
