A city with a fascinating history, great food and thermal springs

Budapest has a rich and varied history, as reflected in its neoclassical, baroque and Art Nouveau architecture. The 800-year-old Buda Castle District is one of many World Heritage sites in the city, and offers panoramic views.

Hungary’s history is also reflected in its sophisticated cuisine. Although typical Magyar dishes are rich and meaty, they feature a surprisingly wide range of spices.

The visitor will also find the city’s charming cafés, with excellent baked-from-scratch cakes and good coffee, a great place to have a break between sightseeing excursions.

In addition, the city has over 800 geothermal springs, and you’ll find both traditional Turkish-style baths alongside more modern establishments.
