Good Hotel Guide Review
This lovely medieval village, with its ramparts, half-timbered houses, and cobbled streets, is often the setting for historical films. Here, the Thibaut family have presided since 1912 at their hotel, converted from 14th-century and Renaissance buildings on the square. ‘Magical and peaceful: recommended for the bastide experience,’ was one comment. Other visitors told of ‘excellent food’, although some found it expensive. Regional dishes, eg, foie gras de canard; médaillons de veau aux asperges, are served by waitresses in medieval costume; menus and wine lists are on parchment scrolls. The bedrooms are in four houses, those in the Manoir are said to be the best. ‘Ours, tastefully restored, very quiet, had a marvellous view over the garden by the church (its bells are turned off at night).’ Some rooms have their own garden where you can breakfast.
