Good Hotel Guide Review
Amid the ‘breathtaking scenery’ of the eastern Vercors, where, say visitors, ‘sheer mountain cliffs rise majestically above trees and meadows’, is this ‘gem’ of a hotel. Owned by the Prayer family for three generations, it is an unassuming white building with a modern annexe across the road. Chef Christophe Prayer produces typical cuisine of the region, eg tournedos with morel mushrooms, raclette tartiflette. Meals are served on the terrace, in the jardin intérieur (with glazed roof) or in one of several smaller rooms. ‘Staff are welcoming; help offered with luggage.’ One couple liked the ‘luscious blue and raspberry fabrics’ in their bedroom. Others wrote: ‘Ours was really a suite, comfortable, if starkly decorated, and with amazing views.’ The demi-pension menu, with little choice, changes nightly. ‘Breakfast DIY, but plenty of it. Good pool with sliding roof.’ In winter the village attracts skiers; in summer, ‘for wild flowers, birdwatching, painting, it is sans pareil’.
