Good Hotel Guide Review
‘A beautiful hotel,’ one reader wrote. Built of local pink granite, this 19th-century Breton manor house (Relais & Châteaux) stands on a wooded headland on the edge of this popular resort. ‘Luxurious without being stuffy’, it is within walking distance of fine, sandy beaches. All bedrooms look south over sea and islands. ‘The view from our room was breathtaking. Our elegantly appointed bathroom had spa bath, separate shower, loads of fluffy towels, renewed twice daily.’ The ‘charming’ garden, with blue-and-white loungers and parasols, faces the sea, as does the Michelin-starred restaurant where the ‘warmly welcoming’ owners, Gilles and Luce Daubé, are ‘always present’ and local Breton chef Mathieu Kergourlay specialises in fish, especially lobster. Staff are ‘discreet yet friendly’; ‘at dinner they are formally dressed: splendid long jackets’. ‘Breakfast was delicious: fresh orange juice, croissants, lovely crêpes and eggs.’
